A Pumpkin for Nonno

Today after we had lunch at my Mom's we decided that we would go and pick out pumpkins for Elena and Stevie at Tara Farm in Watertown. The Farm is right across the street from the cemetery where my Dad is buried so we decided to pick out a pumpkin for him. The kids loved it. We had not been there for a while, it was really nice and peaceful to be there. The three kids put the pumpkin down and said hello to him, and then we came home and had hot chocolate and banana bread. It was a nice quiet day, I think that it was a good idea to lay low because Emma still isn't feeling quite herself so we didn't do much today, so that she will be feeling fine for Halloween.

58

58

58

Today we celebrated my Mom's 58 th birthday. I asked my Mom earlier in the week what she wanted for her birthday dinner and she said lobster. It was so delicious, especially because Pat took the meat out of all 10 of them before we ate. It was really great to see everyone. During the school year we don't get to see them as often as we would like. So we ate lobster, played outside and enjoyed cake. What a great Sunday!

Halloween Fun!!!

On Friday night we went to Emma's school for the Spooktacular Halloween Party. It Was CRAZY. The school had a DJ this year the all of the kids were running wild. As usual we bought our raffle tickets, and instead of putting one in each bag (there are over 40 bags) we found one thing that Em wanted and put all of out tickets in that bag. What she picked was a Hanna Montana lunch bag with a diary. As soon as she saw it I knew that she would want it. Right before school started we were in the Disney store and she asked for it. It was 20 dollars, I made her put it back. So there we were getting ready to leave the party when they called her name. She was so excited!!!
On Saturday, we made plans to go pumpkin picking at Angevine Farm in Warren. It was so wonderful when we got there. NO ONE WAS THERE!!!! We asked where the pumpkin patch was, drove up to it, Saw a fox, and picked our pumpkins. When we came back down from the patch we paid for our pumpkins and went on a hay ride. It was a really nice way to spend the day. Emma didn't want to leave. On November 15 the farm is having a Christmas party and I'm pretty sure that we will be going. The man that was there loved Em. He gave her a Halloween pin and a small pumpkin for free. When we got home it was about 5:30. Once we got settled we got right into carving. A couple of weeks ago we found this book on how to carve ghosts, witches, and a million other things into a pumpkin. 3 hours later Pat was done. They came out really good, I just wish that we remembered to buy candles to put in them!!!

Fall Projects

On Friday night we headed to the craft store to buy supplies for a school project. Every year Em's school sends home a pumpkin to decorate for Halloween. Emma wanted to make her pumpkin orange with sparkles and a spider smile. We were out of everything, so we went to stock up on supplies. While we were there she also spotted a skeleton that she wanted to paint, so we picked that up too. She had such a fun time decorating them. It's hard to believe that Halloween is right around the corner. Emma is so excited!! Last weekend we went out to find her costume, but we had some trouble. She wanted to be Dorothy, but they did not have her size. Then, she wanted to be Glinda the Good Witch, but again, they did not have her size. Then it was Hanna Montana. I talked her out of that. So she decided on Tinkerbell. She looks really cute in her costume!!!I can't wait for all of you to see it!!!

The subtle customer

This morning I encountered a customer and in the course of the meeting the following conversation took place:

Customer: Hey Pat why is your face swollen?
Pat: Oh I just had my wisdom teeth removed on Friday.
Customer: Really? Why did you wait so long to have it done?
Pat: Wait so long? I'm only 28!
Customer: 28!! Holy #@$% you look like you've had one hard life!!!

In retrospect, I am starting to think that it is time for a new look. Does anyone know the name of a good plastic surgeon? Or at the very least a good cosmetologist? You know, aside from the obvious hit to the "old" ego, you know what the worst part of this is????.......HE DIDN'T EVEN BUY ANYTHING!!!!! Sometimes you just have to laugh at the things people say.....or else you may kill them.

glasses

hello everyone!!! We brought Emma to the eye doctor a couple of weeks ago and found out that she needed glasses. She needs to wear them for reading and writing. Pat picked them up today and I thought that I would post pics and so that you could all see how cute she looks in them!!! Friday Emma goes on her field trip to Indian Rock Nature Preserve and she is so excited. She was suppose to go last year, but I decided not to send her because it was a few days before we were leaving for Disney and I was afraid that she was going to get sick ( they mix all of the classes). So while she is having fun on her field trip, I will be taking care of Pat who is having 3 wisdom teeth pulled. Hopefully everything goes well.
